ANTI TRAFFICKING

Through our anti trafficking network in Peru, we educate over 1,000 students each year about human trafficking. By partnering with schools and implementing anti trafficking curriculum, we stop trafficking before it starts.

WE FIGHT HUMAN TRAFFICKING IN PERU

We fight human trafficking in Peru through preventive education and survivor care.

PREVENTIVE EDUCATION: We aim to stop trafficking before it starts by educating students and their families about human trafficking. When families are aware, children are less likely to fall prey to traffickers.

SURVIVOR CARE: We work with trafficking survivors to help them find safe work and rebuild their lives.

Human trafficking is a form of modern-day slavery which involves the unlawful act of transporting or coercing people in order to benefit from their work or service, typically in the form of forced labor or sexual exploitation. Lima, Peru is a trafficking hub because of its major airport and population of 11 million.

Many young girls from rural areas in the Amazon Jungle, Andes Mountains, and Nazca Desert are tricked into coming to the capital with the promise of education and job opportunities, only to find themselves trapped in the sex industry. Our team reaches these women through outreaches where our anti-trafficking hotline is given out with care bags. Women can contact our team through that hotline and receive aid. At our Drop In Center, women can drop in at any time during our office hours for aid. Our team works with these women to help them find safe work and rebuild their lives. The women we work with are smart, capable, and incredibly brave. We are honored to be part of their lives and their stories.

In 2019, a woman named Victoria was rescued from trafficking through our program. After working with our team to turn her life around, she hosted a Christmas outreach in her community so that her neighbors would hear the gospel and their children would receive Christmas gifts. This outreach led to our partnership with the Carabayllo community, which is a district of Lima where more than 300,000 people live. Sadly, Victoria passed away from Covid in 2020, but her legacy continues today through our community center in Carabayllo. Because of her, we are doing preventive work in this community through our One Way kids Bible classes, Feeding Program, and school partnerships. We continue to honor her memory through our work.

Peru is an amazing country, and the Peruvian people are kind and generous. It is an honor for us to partner with them to fight human trafficking in their nation.
