On October 5th, 2017, we held our second annual missions gala! This year, the gala was at Wayne County High School, and the theme was “Experience Missions.”

We really wanted our guests to experience some aspect of missions, so our team spent months planning and dreaming up ideas.

The first thing that happened was that Pattie Feltman hand made a life size llama! Llamas are everywhere in Peru, so that was one fun way to bring Peruvian culture into the event. Some people even started calling her Lily the Llama!

Our guests also got to make their own medallion necklace with our logo on it. This was another wonderful idea of Pattie’s that was so much fun! We had volunteers cut out and design the medallions from clay, and Pattie fired them in her kiln. Each person was handed a packet with a medallion, chain, bead, and string when they came in the door. Later, they had the chance to create their own unique necklace!

Guests also got to eat some authentic Peruvian cuisine thanks to Janice Phillips and her team. Everyone enjoyed the meal of causa de pollo, lomo saltado, and tres leches cake!

We had a silent auction with items that came from the Inca Markets in Peru. There were rugs, pillows, pieces of jewelry, slippers, blankets, and many more items!

The most special part of the evening was when everyone made a God’s Eye. Each God’s Eye represents one day that the refuge home in Peru will be fully funded because of the money raised at this year’s gala. After each person hand made their God’s Eye, they hung it on a tree. Then, we all prayed together over the Peruvian women that would be rescued and restored through this ministry.

By the end of the night, our community had raised $5,252 dollars to go toward missions in Peru! It was a fun evening of “Experiencing Missions” that we will never forget, and we can’t wait for next year!
