About three years ago, on a dark night and in an abandoned place, we met a woman on the streets of Lima. This woman was in prostitution, and we learned about her story step by step. As the months passed, she became a great friend and contact for our street evangelism team. 

She was a great baker and was talented at baking cakes and pastries. Once, we went to spend a day with her at her house, and we had a wonderful time with her and got to know her community, Carabayllo. She introduced us to another woman who is a leader in the Carabayllo community. This woman loves to help and equip the children of her community. Since then, we have remained connected with the leader of this place. 

Despite the present difficulties that we now face in the world, we have been able to host two special events with God’s help. These events are called “chocolatadas” where we deliver gifts and hot chocolate with paneton (a special type of Peruvian bread served during the holidays). We got to meet the children of this community and pray for them, and we are so grateful to God for the life of “Victoria” who was the woman that connected us to this place. Even though she passed away in 2020, she is with Jesus now. We feel honored and are grateful to God for her last days with us, for her having connected us with this beautiful community of Carabayllo, and for creating hope where there was none. We will always remember Victoria. 

In December of 2021 we hosted our most recent “Chocolatada” for the children of Carabayllo. With a team of 8 people, we delivered the gifts, hot chocolate, and paneton to 55 children, which was a great blessing to be able to pray for them and bless them. They live on such a high mountain that many people cannot reach their homes, and it is very unusual for any help to reach them. Some of our volunteers expressed these thoughts: “I cannot believe that there are so many forgotten children and that we are here for them.” Others said, “I am happy to be part of reaching this community for Christ.” What impacted me the most as a leader was seeing the love and unity they have as a community, and how happy and grateful they are when you visit them or are just spending time with them; I can only conclude that God’s love is so deeply incalculable, and can create paths where there were none, bring hope where there was none, and His love will always drive us to do something wherever we are and wherever we go.

Hace tres años aproximadamente conocimos en las calles de Lima en una oscura noche y lugar “abandonado” a una mujer prostituta, quien fuimos conociendo su historia paso a paso. Pasando los meses ella se volvió una gran amiga de nuestro equipo de evangelismo en las calles.

Ella tenía el talento de repostería “preparar pasteles y bocaditos”. Una vez fuimos a pasar un día con ella en su casa y tuvimos un tiempo maravilloso con ella y conociendo su comunidad. Desde ese instante conocimos “CARABAYLLO”. Ella nos condujo hasta aquí y nos presentó a otra mujer quien es una líder en la comunidad de Carabayllo. Ella ama ayudar y equipar a los niños de su comunidad. Desde entonces nos mantenemos conectados con la  líder de este lugar. 

Pese a las dificultades presentes que vivimos  ahora en el mundo, hemos podido lograr realizar dos eventos con la ayuda de Dios. Estos eventos se llaman “chocolatada” donde realizamos entrega de regalos y chocolates con panetones. Logramos conocer a los niños de esta comunidad y orar por ellos. Entonces estamos tan agradecidos a Dios, por la vida de “Victoria” quien fue la mujer que nos conectó a este lugar. A pesar de que ella falleció en el 2020, ella está ahora con Jesús. Nos sentimos honrados y agradecidos a Dios, por sus últimos días con nosotros y habernos conectado con esta bella comunidad de Carabayllo,  y crear esperanza donde no había. Siempre recordaremos a Victoria.

En diciembre del 2021 fue uno de nuestros eventos, nuestra chocolatada para los niños de Carabayllo. Fuimos un equipo de 8 personas que realizamos la entrega de regalos, chocolatada, y panetón para 55 niños, lo cual fue una gran bendición orar por ellos y bendecirlos. Ellos viven en una montaña tan alta, que muchas personas no pueden llegar hasta arriba sus viviendas y es muy inusual que alguna ayuda llegue hasta ellos. Algunos de nuestros voluntarios expresó, “No puedo creer que haya tantos niños olvidados y que estemos aquí para ellos” y otros: “Estoy feliz de ser parte de alcanzar esta comunidad para Cristo.” A esto quiero  agregar también, lo que más me impactó como líder es ver el amor y unión que tienen como comunidad, y lo feliz y agradecidos que son cuando los visitas no estás solo pasando tiempo con ellos;  solo puedo  concluir que el amor de Dios es tan profundamente incalculable, y puede crear caminos donde no había, traer esperanza donde no había, su amor siempre nos impulsara hacer algo en donde estemos o a donde vayamos.
